I agree with previous reviewers that the book starts with too much of the author bragging about his connections with Grohl. And I found it hard to initially get into as the story jumped from one thing to another before finally settling into some chronological sense.
Overall, I enjoyed the book, but I think I would have struggled to persevere with it if I wasn't already a fan.

A book lacking in any insight into Dave Grohl. This is largely a book which focuses on the rise of Nirvana and the outset of the foo fighters, without any insight into the man himself or even his songwriting or inspiration. Disappointing book.

This seems to just be a list of stories to show how well the author knows Grohl rather than a book about Grohl himself. Did like some of the stories
Thorough and entertaining account of the master muso. Well researched and covers the territory well. One typo spells Malcolm McLaren with two Cs, forgivable given McLaren grossly over inflated himself in Pistols story. Good insight into formative experiences and what drives Grohl to well deserved success. Focuses on the people, the songs and stays away from musician technical detail. Great background on the underground music scene Grohl hailed from and embraced.
It took me eight months to read, but I just wanted to nurse it and didn't want it to end. It was amazing. I'm a huge fan of Dave Grohl's, and I loved reading about him. I'm really glad I own a copy of this so I read it again and again.
