Liked it. Surprisingly sweet, in a good way. 3 timelines. A tiny bit confusing at first, but I can chalk that up to audio instead of eyeballs. Can't quite put my finger on what's missing, other than to say this is a good story with good characters and some good messages about misogyny and superstition, that doesn't quite achieve greatness. Totally worthwhile read though if the plot sounds cool to you. I mean, Cooke is on point with observations like Sapphire's experiences with Brody. The thought processes Sapphire goes through are achingly familiar to anyone who's been a teenage girl.

A really great blend between witches, folklore, and mystery.

If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. So creepy and atmospheric. Also based in Scotland with time travel which is my personal favourite niche.

I liked the eerie vibes the setting of a remote island lighthouse and its town I could actually feel the chill of the cold and wind and icy wet when I read some parts! I liked how there were subtle focuses on feminism, it wasn't overly done just nicely incorported into the storylines . I liked the character developments too and how the author always created this air of doubt around them. I did notice some minor errors in the writing/editing but nothing too bad and also found some parts unnecessary or confusing and could have been either omitted or expanded on for instance when Luna bumps into Brodie and he is rattling on about how she should leave and people aren't happy and they will be after her yada yada yada and also the whole glass in the pie scene then suddenly nothing really happened with it...would have also been interesting to know what happened to the other characters...we know Isla was jailed but do Mirin and Ruqayya and the whole of that gang still live on Lòn Haven. I also think it wrapped up a little too quickly for all the suspense and mystery that was built and it was weird that after all that it was happy endings all around but still only 1 star knocked off for all those points as I can be overly critical but I did overall enjoy it very much!

This book surprised me, I didn't think it was going to be as good as it was. There at the end I feel like a lot was packed in really fast it was a lot to take in but it was still a really good story
