A great story about claiming once birthright and vengeance set in Chinese history. I liked the bloodthirstiness and cleverness of the main character. This could easily have been longer! What a great read.

I liked that Bao tried to understand Chien and treasures him. Chien doesn't know whom to trust, so tried to turn away Boa. I could feel the tension in Chien between playing dumb and wanting to be himself with Bao.

It wasn't flawless. There were some pacing and repetition issues and I thought Chien's plan far too obvious to actually work, but I still basically enjoyed the story and was happy for the (somewhat rushed) happy ending.
