2.25 – 2.75 stars 🤷‍♀️

This wasn’t really enemies‑to‑lovers… more like enemies‑to‑enemies‑with‑benefits‑to‑lovers 😅. Honestly, my least favorite in the Twisted series. I did enjoy the last two books more, and while I still enjoyed parts of this one, there’s one particular scene that had me screaming internally. Josh… I wanted to slap him. I understand why he did what he did, but it still burns.

And Jules — I love her, but I was also a little mad at her in that scene. I get her, but it all could’ve been avoided. Still, the book wasn’t terrible. I actually ended up liking Alex more because of this book, and the proposal scene was so lovely 🥹❤️.

I can’t believe I’m already onto the last book. These couples weren’t perfect, but they do hold a little place in my heart ❤️📚.

So far:
Twisted Love — ⭐⭐⭐ (3)
Twisted Games — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5)
Twisted Hate — ⭐⭐¼–⭐⭐¾ (2.25–2.75)
Twisted Lies — ??? (Currently reading

Twisted Hate by Ana Huang was such a rollercoaster. I absolutely loved Jules and Josh as characters their growth throughout the story felt authentic and well-paced. Both had detailed, unique backstories that made them relatable and complex. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic was fantastic! I loved their banter and the way they kept challenging each other even after they got together. Their chemistry was so intense, and their fights low-key had a cute undertone that kept things lively.

I was almost set to give this book five stars, but the last 30% changed things for me. The way Josh handled the major conflict with Jules just left a sour taste. I understand he's flawed, but his actions crossed a line for me, especially since this isn’t marketed as a dark romance. It made it hard to root for him in the same way.

That being said, Ana Huang’s writing is amazing, and the emotional quotes like Josh's line about “the possibility of you is better than the reality of anyone else” had me swooning. Overall, a captivating read with strong characters, but that final conflict held me back from a perfect rating.

I wish I liked Twisted Hate more than I did. These characters did nothing for me, nor did the “plot”. The small chunk of plot this book had felt so unimportant, boring, and...stale? There’s nothing more to these characters than their surface level hatred of each other, then out of nowhere they’re supposedly in love. It felt super forced and not well thought out.

I wasn’t a fan of Jules and Josh through the first 2 books or at the start of this book. By the end, I respected and appreciated both of them. The other characters were more intertwined in the first two books and I missed the other characters.

I'm conflicted, the storytelling was good and I was invested, but I really disliked the intimate scenes which felt unnecessarily aggressive. I especially disliked the scene where they broke up, it was abuse which wasn't appropriately handled. Josh was a walking red flag who got away with it because he's a hot doctor.
