I am not ashamed to admit that I occasionally need to read fluff, it's perfect for reading on the elliptical machine or for decompressing your brain after a particularly heavy or deep book. And it's fun.

"Enchanted Inc." is some high quality fluff. The plot is definitely unique (imagine a PG-rated Sex in the City meets Harry Potter). The writing, while not superb, is very decent. And the characters are engrossing. And did I mention it is fun? Best of all, the focus remains on the plot and the characters so there isn't any of that flashy-raunchiness just-to-catch-your-attention-thing going on. Shanna Swendson shows a restraint and a mature, gentle touch which is worth following in future books.

This series has an interesting premise, and there's a lot cute about it. Cute enough that I read the whole series, though I find all the books have the same strengths and weaknesses.

WHAT I LIKED
---------------
* Mostly witty dialogue.

* The characters are quite sweet.

* So many funny situations.

* The female lead's family and friends.

* The general premise and magical worlds.

* The fairy godmother.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE
----------------------
* The female lead consistently choosing NOT to share what is obviously pertinent information, even to the extent that she thinks "I should probably tell X that Y. But I decide not to, because [insert lame reason here]."

* The characters decide not to follow leads for no apparent reason.

* The romance is slow to develop, which doesn't usually bother me, but its culmination after so short an in-fiction period really blew my mind. At the end of the whole series, I was more "WTF?" than "oh, cool!"

So I was in the mood for something light that did not make me think too hard, but that still offered some delightful scenes. That is exactly what I got with this book. It gets five stars for being the rom-com of my dreams when I needed it. It is kitschy and I am excited to see what happens next.

I really enjoyed this- it's a nice, light-hearted read. The characters are likeable and sweet, the plot and the world are fun and not too serious. I'm interested in seeing where Katie goes next.

Edit: I've read the next 4 books and I didn't enjoy them nearly as much, I enjoyed Enchanted Inc. but I wouldn't read any of the others again, other people seem to like them but I didn't enjoy them.

"Enchanted inc." is a fun little magical story about a young women struggling in life with a job she doesn't like, a non existing love life and the occasional weird encounter with strange looking people. She soon discovers the existence of magic and takes a pretty big part in a magical battle of good vs bad, side by side with a pretty hot co-worker and Merlin himself.

I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to dive into the follow-up.

I really enjoyed this one. Typical single girl meets magic. Interesting story and funny at times. A little above your typical chick lit fare.

Katie has recently moved to New York, is stuck in a horrible job, and then finds out she is really ordinary. But, in this case, ordinary is special! As an "immune," Katie isn't susceptible to magical illusions and is a valuable resource for a magical company.

Of course, there is a romance and a criminal element along with all of this. It is a quick, light read. It's not going to challenge your intellect, but you know, sometimes you need a book like this.
