I went into this book blind, and it had me in the first half, not gonna lie. I was about to drop the whole book because I didn’t like the way Rosaline was treating such a sweet guy, just because he wasn’t posh enough for her or her parents. Luckily, things took a turn and the story became far more unique than I was expecting. I do wish she had spent more time with Harry and less with the jerk.

Damn. Alexis Hall is funny. I will be honest. I did not enjoy this as much as Boyfriend Material. I could tell early on who the bad guy was and he continued to be bad in a way that made it difficult to not be upset with the protagonist for not seeing the obvious badness. But damn, Alexis Hall is a funny writer. And I will forgive any amount of annoying plot points for a book that genuinely makes me laugh out loud. Because those are few and far between. I need to say, not just funny for a romance novel. Funny period. I do comedy for a living. So there's not a lot that does that. And this book did that. Several times.

This was so much fun. If you're a fan of GBBO, and are open to reading a romance novel, you must read this. Honestly, there's more "woman finding herself" than there is romance. And she does spend a lot of time with a guy who's handsome but quite a wanker. But it was just a delightful read and much needed comfort fare during this week. It ranks up there with my favorite romances.
