There are a lot of extremely problematic takes, so read this being fully prepared to cherry pick what you need from it and leave everything you don’t. I’ve started using similar NVC language for myself internally and for others, but the way he describes talking to people makes me cringe.

This should be taught in every school in a practical form.

Great in theory, very challenging in practise.
Also, no one talks that way, it's too stilted :P.
I think he knows what he is doing and he can do it very well, but he can't yet really explain it so that everyone really gets, really understands and can adapt in a practical way that works for them.
May read some of his newer books at some point, maybe he got better at relaying this stuff. Or maybe it is just one of these communication things some people can't learn from books but only in person.

Some of the book is typical self-help fare: semi-believable anecdotes from conferences and history. But on the whole it lives up to its reputation as a ambitious but pragmatic system for solving problems and talking about emotions.

Very interesting and informative. I do feel like it was written from a place of privilege but the core lessons were valuable and could be modified to fit my life.

A life-affirming book. I read a copy from the library, but I'll be adding it to my home library as soon as I can.
