Too many other books I was reading and this one just wasn’t holding my attention.

Don't get me wrong, the story sure is lovely and I really liked the characters so far, but I need a break. On one hand, this book is kind of preachy, and on the other hand it's sometimes hard to understand
(especially for people that speak English as 2nd language)
because languages simply change over time. This book is like 156 years old.
Some examples  which I found confusing are:

"[...] Beth, who was toasting her face and the bread for tea [...] " 🍞
(I think she's blushing?)
"Lucky for you I am; for if I put on crushed airs, and tried to be dismal as you do, we should be in a nice state."
"[...]  the young girl should long for pretty things, gay friends, accomplishments, and a happy life."
"Well, I wish I may die, if it ain't the queerest thing I ever see!"

Overall, reading it felt a bit tiring but also somewhat entertaining too and the daily life of the protagonists and their relationships were really sweet :)
Well, I will pick it up again, but not now. If I had to rate what I've read so far it would be around 3 stars.

Obviously this is a classic book and I had no intention of reading it until the new movie came out. I decided to give it a try and I was glad I did. The writing was very descriptive and Alcott points out some very prominent views that are still applicable today. Though there were some times that I was left yawning because I was bored, other times I was interested reading the story of the March family. A very good book and I would read it again!
