What happens when you lose your temper with your ‘teammate’ after they crash into you during the championship run?
Well…you might be dropped from the team…and told that you’re not exactly a ‘team player’.
Neither of which sits well with Knox Holland, motocross racer.
He’s back home with his brothers, training, & trying to either convince his old team to give him another chance…or find another team.
In the meantime…he mets up with an old friend who invites him to join his freestyle team while figuring things out…
While he’s ‘good’…his buddy Colter suggests that he reaches out to someone for training…saying that he’d trained with these two last year…and it helped with his tricks.
The ‘trainer’….Olympic medalist & current college sophomore Avery Oliver. She’s currently working to recover from an injury late last season…in hopes of being back to ‘Olympic’ caliber before the start of the next competition season.
These two…
They started off as oil-and-water…each having preconceived notions of the other. But…as they continued to train together, they managed to breach the defenses that the other erected around their hearts.
I loved seeing how they both managed to help the other ‘heal’ from past issues (Avery—a cheating ex; Knox—family ‘issues’); and move forward.
Now does Knox find a new team? Does Avery recover enough to compete at the ‘level’ she had previously? The answers can be found within the pages of Burnout (Holland Brothers #1), that can be found at all retailers now.
Also…there is nothing like picking a book off the TBR electronic pile to start reading…only to realize that it connects to another series that you’ve also previously bought. So…once I’ve read the other two Holland brother books, I’ll be making my way back to that series: The Campus Wallflowers series.
honestly not sure why i thought this would be better than the other one because wow it was not this series is just meh and bland
4.5/5 ⭐️
This was such a fun read! I’ve been in my sports romance era for a while now and reading about a grumpy motocross rider and a sunshine gymnast was so enjoyable. Knox and Avery were so cute together and Knox’s brothers were amazing side characters. I’m excited for their books next!
Thank you Rebecca Jenshak and Valentine PR for an ARC of this book!

The vibes were mostly vibing. I liked both Avery and Knox as characters, but some of their more 'playful' interactions were a little too cheesy for my taste. The plot wasn't overly exciting and Avery didn't always feel like she was a real collegiate/Olympic athlete, but the Holland Family and the absence of unnecessary toxicity largely made up for those facts.
