You should STOP if you haven't read Consolidation!

If you know me, you know I have a list a mile long of books I need to read because I review, a lot. This was not on that list but I did pre-order it because I was left stunned at the end of Consolation. When it appeared on my Kindle I finished what I was in the middle of and immediately started this one. Once I started, I could not stop. I needed to know what was going to happen, I needed to know how everyone was going to make this complete mess work and deadlines be damned.

"I moved toward Liam, his blue eyes meet mine as I rush towards him. I take his hands in mine, but he releases them. My heart shatters as he steps back."

For most of this book my heart was in my throat. I could not fathom the impossible decisions that lay ahead of Natalie and Liam. Their life was almost perfect, only to be shattered. Aaron's arrival was like a slap in the face or knife to the gut. Not only was it painfully unbelievable that he was in fact alive, but now comes the aftermath of the mess he made before he left. The pains and trials that Natalie, Liam and Aaron have to face are heart-wrenching and if I were a crier I am sure I would have been mush.

Besides the soul crushing, there was also some humor and growth. These three are all at different points in their lives. They all have grown and learned a little more about life. Liam is becoming the man he never thought he would get the chance to be. His life before was about the mission not about family. Aaron needed to learn to deal with the demons that are left on his soul not only from his mistakes but also the toll of being lost on a mission. Natalie needed to grow up and take the blinders off, she knows what she wants and had to learn to fight for it. She was used to easy and comfortable but that is not what real love is all about.

Over-all this story was one of beauty; you laugh, have your heart broken but in the end it was all worth it.

"Sometimes you have to wade through the bad to find the good."

While I loved book one, this book wasn't as good. I felt that I needed more with the connection and there was too much seperation when there shouldn't have been.

My only complaint about both books in this series are they were a bit too long and seemed to drag in some parts. I was angry at the beginning of this one with Natalie's behavior with Aaron, and I ALMOST said F it and didn't bother reading it. Luckily, instead of remaining TSTL, she pulled herself together and did the right thing from the beginning. Great story about a very strong and amazing woman.

cw for racism, infertility and the super sperm trope

I know I've been giving all of these lower ratings, but genuinely I am having fun reading them (just not necessarily fun because they're good... but entertaining). I just have issues with the plots/tropes that make it hard for me to rate them higher. This is a book about Navy SEALS and I feel like the topic of war isn't addressed respectfully (in the first book there were a few offensive comments regarding who they're fighting against) and the author seems to interchange Afghanistan and Iraq like they're the same place. I mention this because I think it's important to know that going into this series, because for some people this could be a trigger.
I also didn't particularly like how in this book the 'super sperm' trope came into play. For those who don't know, it's usually when a woman has fertility issues but gets pregnant throughout the course of the book because the guy is particularly fertile? It's not my favorite as it downplays infertility issues that women struggle with.

*SPOILERS*

This duet ruined my life, but like in a good way…

This story continues the journey of Liam and Natalie navigating their way through the absolute BOMB dropped in the last book.

My friends will attest to this but lemme tell you I absolutely hated Aaron’s dumba**. I could not STAND him. Sir, nobody freaking likes you, if you could just go away that would be freaking great. I was legit YELLING at his character throughout the book. He continued to lie and be a POS. Natalie deserved so much better and Liam was like “hold my beer”.

The story was heartbreaking, full of love and trust, loss and hurt, I felt every single emotion between Natalie and Liam.

I NEED Mark’s comedic relief after these last two duets - *phew*.

-Widow/Single Mom
-Friends to Lovers
-Husband’s Best Friend
-Accidental Pregnancy
-Trauma/Loss/Grief

Seriously someone get Lee a medal for getting through all the drama in this book! Poor girl needs a vacation!

While Mark is suppose to be a supporting character in this book, he absolutely stole the show and I can’t wait to read his story!

The drama in this book is so so great, after the cliffhanger that we get in book one the amount of drama in this one it's impressive, I am so sympathetic to Aaron because damn he went through a lot, but Lee has every right to chase happiness because Aaron cheated on her and got another woman pregnant and what he did was unforgivable. On the other hand we have Liam who is the sweetest(besides being a mess with diapers) but also that man is way too stubborn but sweet. Honestly with all the turmoil that they went through they deserved a happy ever after
