I've started reading this book coz of the high bookstagram recommendations but I found this book quite difficult to finish. It's a clinch love story. Everything was happening as expected and the scenes were quite long n boring and at some points I felt like a certain scene wasn't really necessary. The chapters are made quite long, though I love reading long chapters but only if theyare interesting or somewhat unique.
In this book the story is like being dragged just to make the book bigger.

Overall I didn't like this book much

But except all this the story is a simple love story swith some romance n a really really good good guy. So if you like reading simple n cute love stories with some intimate scenes, with a little drama and you love reading wattpad clinch stories . Must go for it.

There were enjoyable points in the 2nd quarter of this book but the rest was HARD WORK. Not even the spice was exciting! I liked the grumpy sunshine dynamic but Jack’s secret was underwhelming and the romance wasn’t strong enough to stand without an interesting subplot

Arranged marriage trope ✅
Grumpy sunshine trope ✅
Dual POVs. ✅

Our main male lead Jack is a lawyer who is one of the top men at the firm and is very successful, influential and powerful. Our main female lead is Rose and all she has wanted is to own a coffee shop of her own.

Initially the story is pretty slow because of their developing relationship from strangers to friends but then after that with all of the little little gestures that come from both as the story progresses we see it gradually building into something more. Then there is also the hilarious banter that takes place between the two of them and a prominent level of spice but more than that, the story is this basically how Jack learns to always be there for Rose and how Rose who has never had people around- learns to adjust to a person taking care of her.

The highlight of the whole book is how Rose keeps count of how many times Jack smiles which is pretty low till mid book. For me when I was reading the book, her count was a motivational factor because I wanted to see when and which chapter as well as what will make him actually smile.

I pretty much breezed through this book and it's an adorable and  light read for those who don't want to commit to an in-depth kind of a story with a very easy language.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/ 5 stars

✨ 4.5 Stars!

I typically don't pick up slow burn romances, they're not my cup of tea but every now and then I find myself completely enthralled with a story and the characters that I don't even realize it is a slow burn—that was the case with this book.

I enjoyed the characters so much that I fell for the story and the development of their relationship. I love a good marriage of convenience story and this was so close to being the perfect one for me. I never once found myself wanting to skim or skip, and because I was so captivated by Jack and Rose, I was loving every moment they shared.

As I got to the last few chapters of this story, I was convinced I had another 5 star read for 2021. However, chapter 25 until chapter 27 annoyed me. I don't want to spoil anything but I personally didn't see what Jack did to be that deceiving. I also didn't like that Rose made it seem like she was done with him, yet come to chapter 27 acted as though it was just a normal fight and Jack should have known that—especially when she left her ring behind and took all her belongings with her, how could he not think she was leaving him?

Overall, had the above just been a normal fight between the couple and not blown out of unnecessary proportion, I would have given this a perfect 5 star—especially since the ending was so great. Nevertheless I would still highly recommend this to anyone, even if slow burns aren't your thing. I thoroughly enjoyed Ella Maise's writing and storytelling, and I'm happy that I gave this book a second chance.

This was a so so read for me. I remember picking this book up a few years ago and having really good feelings towards it. However, back then I was a big skim reader so, sitting down and listening to the full audiobook was a different experience. I don't know if it was the audio narration or the writing (I'm leaning towards a bit of both), but a lot of the conversation felt stilted to me. Lots of parroting back what the other character said, and it started to feel like filler. It was hard for me to connect to Rose and Jack and understand their chemistry, because half the time I was rolling my eyes at their conversations. I think what saved the book for me were the main tropes in this story - marriage of convenience and caregiver. The marriage of convenience felt a little forced once we found out about Jack's real intentions, but before that, I liked that part of the plot. And the caregiver storyline is what I remember most about enjoying this book the last time I read it. It still held up for me, and that was a pleasant surprise. Overall, it was just an okay read. Nothing special, and unfortunately, not a book I'll probably reread again.
