Bleh. I honestly forced myself to finish. The plot felt like it was repeating itself, Freya was annoying, Bjorn's story was predictable, the 'romance' just felt lustful, and I ended not really desiring to pick up the next in the series.  This one obviously wasn't for me.

Fun and fast paced Norse mythology inspired romantasy. The forbidden romance between Bjorn blessed by the God Tyr and Freya blessed by the Goddess Hlin was pretty much insta lust which turned into a slow slow burn. I enjoyed the world building in the book. There is a betrayal and plot twist which leaves this book in a cliffhanger.

Riveting, fast-paced Viking-lore romance with a cliff- hanger ending!*

Freya is stuck in an abusive marriage to keep her loved ones safe until she meets Bjorn, a handsome son of a neighboring jarl, and in a wild twist of fate she murders her husband and reveals her secret: she is a daughter of Hiln and gifted the ability to protect herself by invoking the obscure goddesses name. What follows is a wirl-wind adventure and slow- burn romance as Freya grows into her powers and fights her fate as she fights for the people she cares about.

Cannot wait for the sequel to find out how Freya's journey ends!

thank you netgalley and the publisher for giving me an arc of this!!

this book is dripping in classic norse mythology and i love it. the twists, the romance, the stakes, it was all just so fantastic. if you like insta-love turned slowburn, the romance in this is for you.

the only thing i didn’t like was that the main character freya was a bit aloof at times and made some *questionable* choices. made me want to shake her and say “think before you act woman”

i’m so glad i got to read it and i need the sequel like, now
