So far, this is my favourite book in the series so far! After we were briefly introduced to Scarlett in the last book, she takes centre stage in this dark, creepy continuation of THE GATEKEEPERS series. The atmosphere was similar to the last three books, yet it has a decidedly more disturbing atmosphere that I found myself enjoying a lot.

Scarlett is a good character with unfortunately horrible luck, and it was great to follow her along as she realizes her destiny and connection to the Five. There was a little less action than in the previous books, but what action there was remained fast-paced and intense, especially with the cliffhanger ending that will change everything for our main characters. There was also a lot of development for the boys as tension and pressure grew within the group.

The story featured a great combination of character development, lore, and action. Yet it never felt like there was too much going on.

Speaking of the ending, it was absolutely insane. I did not see it coming and wonder how the heroes will be able to recover from such events. Regardless, the story is winding up to an explosive finale I can't wait to read!
