Uggggggggh I would have given this no stars if it was possible. I love all things Greek mythology it generally doesn't matter what it is I am there for it. Getting through this book was like pulling my fingernails out one by one. The characters were drab and I did not care about a single one of them; this applies even to our main "heroine." This book was just an overall disappointment, I'm so glad to be done with it.

I received the book for a honest review and as a part of the tour! Thanks!:) Original post on http://nervidetoamna.blogspot.ro/

I started to read this book because it sounded fun and different, even the idea of goddesses and Greek heroes is not something new. I don’t know if the fact that the book made me laugh and giggle so many times counts but for me is important. When a book makes me feel happy, sad, angry, when I want to rip off some heads: )) because they piss me off and because the character is pissed too.

I won’t talk too much about the action, because I want you to know and put the pieces together little by little. I want you to enjoy the book and the characters, without knowing from me. But I can say that I really enjoyed the book, the characters were natural and real, even Bethany with her stupid face wasn’t so annoying. But this book have all you can want: godesses and gods, dragons, oracles, suspense, love, but without being to much and sugary, jokes, fun facts.

Sophie is the type of girl that I really like, I mean she’s funny, she knows what she wants, she help her friends and she know when she need help. And she doesn’t lose her head when she finds out that she’s a goddess. And neither when she meet Kai. Even she likes him and he’s gorgeous and his kisses… and… I liked that, that she can remain the same and not going crazy in love for a boy that she just met.

I liked Kai too, even he’s a god and the bad boy, he was really cute. He’s natural and is not trying to impress or something and when he’s a jerk, a little one, he makes you angry but smiling too. He has something mysterious in it but he’s a good guy, even he’s the son of Hades. A dark prince, ha.

About the other characters I won’t talk because like that I will never finish this : )), but I like them too, everyone has something special and I’m sure that in the next books we we’ll find out even more about them, and the liking would grow.

In conclusion I really enjoyed the book, it was a good one, a fun read, but in the same time nice, fresh, full of suspense, with a little bit of friendship and love, fights, lies, truths. I can’t wait to read the second one.

Boarding school is anything but a bed of roses for Sophie. She's the target of the popular clique, the yoga girls; she's on probation and facing expulsion if she gets into trouble again; and her mother is more interested in breaking Elizabeth Taylor's marriage record than having anything to do with her.

Then after a sizzling and forbidden kiss, memories that were buried come crashing back. Not only is she a sixteen year old school girl, she is Persephone, the Greek goddess of Spring...and with Hades and Zeus sending their minions to get her, the Yoga Girls suddenly don't seem so bad. She needs to master her powers if she is to have any hope of surviving her sophomore year.

My Ex From Hell was an entertaining adventure with greek gods and goddesses, titans, dragons and nymphs. It's not perfect, the author occasionally uses foreshadowing which I always find annoying and she throws in pop-culture references which just felt awkward. But I enjoyed this book and I'm willing to overlook those few minor stumbles.

Many thanks to Tellulah Darling & Netgalley for providing me with this ARC

I don’t always read YA books, but when I do, they usually have something to do with Greek mythology. So when I saw this book’s premise, I had to give it a read:

When, in the middle of a revenge prank, Sophie ends up kissing a handsome stranger, sparks fly and she gets flashes of a past life as a Greek goddess. Oh, and the guy she’s kissing may or may not be her ex from her time being a prisoner in Hades, the Greek underworld. Oh, and the Olympus Powers That Be may want her dead.

Just another day in boarding school.

Aside: This is more a New Adult book than YA. While it doesn't really go anywhere a liberal-minded parental figure would object to, the first dozen pages really set the tone (sex jokes, language, etc).

And being set at a boarding school, this book delivers that dose of teenage drama and high-school politics. Popular bully Bethany just won’t give Sophie a break, the principle is out to get her, and Sophie’s adopted, absentee mother is quite happy to remain as absentee as possible.

Good thing for Sophie that she has her friends to count on: the snarky Theo and the gorgeous ubernerd Hannah. Then there’s bad-boy Kai who runs hot and cold and who’s also, apparently, Sophie’s soulmate from her past life.

This is one of those books where I can’t tell if it’s terrible or great. Some of the things that bothered me were also the things that made it impossible to put the book down. Everything is so over the top that it almost seems to be a satire of itself, but in a story about Greek gods feuding, over-the-top kinda is the modus operandi.

Sophie is a smack-talking rebel who’s suddenly saddled with a whole lot of mythological baggage and an extended family with an even more extended agenda. Flippant and headstrong, she is more happy about her newfound powers (and gorgeous flowing locks) than terrified, immediately seeing the potentially to crush her school nemesis. An idea that is, thankfully, quashed by her friends’ rule-setting that says she can’t kill humans.

And yet her larger-than-life snarkiness is also the thing that keeps the dialogue rolling and fun. I’d much rather read about a character that goes all out than one who, perhaps more in line with reality, locks herself in her bedroom and hides under the covers.

I enjoyed the romance with Kai, which was nicely ambiguous. The friendships in the story mattered. And a mystery was just starting to get unraveled when the end punched me with a cliffhanger.

Oh, did I forget to mention that? Yeah, if you’re getting this book, you better get the next one too, because that cliffhanger is a doozy.

Really, really, REALLY funny! I love Greek mythology, and the fact that the main character has the same name as me was very appealing! I loved the humor in this book, the sarcastic and sassy come-backs and all the characters! It wasn't full of romance, which was great, and the plot was super interesting!

I don't even know what to say about this book. I liked it at the first part. Why? Well, most of you knew I liked Greek Mythology. So this being a book about Greeks looks good. And it's a Persephone story. From reading Greek Myth books, I knew that Persephone is Hades' wife. BUT... In this book, well, that's the twist. She's NOT THAT Persephone. She's not the wife. Instead, Hades and Zeus (Zeus! Hello, he's your daughter?! Why?!) wanted her dead. Of sorts.

And then as I continue reading it... I feel disconnected with the characters. Sure, they made me laugh a bit. But that's all. There's no giddy feeling between Kai and Sophie. I'm still wondering what is the whole deal. I want to know what is or was their FULL story. I know that it'll probably be discussed or shown in the succeeding books. Maybe that'll be my motivation to read the 2nd book... which would probably be out by next year or two? :D Since this one is not even out yet. I dunno.

OH! Especially the part where they went to save those people? I was like... 'HUH? What? Okay...?' then move on reading the next sentence/paragraph without really understanding what the eff happened or what was happening to Sophie. I didn't imagine the whole fighting scene. Just so you know, I think all avid readers got this wild imagination while reading books. Sooo... That's why I am giving this 2.5 stars. Imagining the scenes are a big YES to me. So if it's a NO, then... sorry. :(

But that is just my personal opinion and you might want to read it and please don't just based on reading reviews on whether to read it or not. I know it might be a huge help sometimes. BUT you need to know it for YOURSELF. :) Hope you all would enjoy reading it if ever you try to read this by the time comes it is out. :)

I was bored and unenthusiastic about making myself finish [b:Into the Water|33151805|Into the Water|Paula Hawkins|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1494055413s/33151805.jpg|53837721], so I grabbed something light and fun. [b:My Ex From Hell|27348722|My Ex From Hell (The Blooming Goddess Trilogy, #1)|Tellulah Darling|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1446050942s/27348722.jpg|21442385] was an eccentric reimagining of Greek mythology in which teenager Sophie Bloom finds out that she is the goddess Persephone incarnate. Sophie then has to deal with her unknown past, learn how to use her powers, and figure out what to do with Persphone's brooding ex.

It was kind of like [b:Percy Jackson|28187|The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)|Rick Riordan|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1400602609s/28187.jpg|3346751] for older, angsty teens. Was it silly and a wee bit ridiculous? Yes. But it certainly delivered on the light and fun angle, so I enjoyed it. There were some humorous moments and some witty banter (although that could have used a little more emphasis). There was also the combination of normal teen high school drama, mean girl bullies, and self-discovery mixed in with pissed off Greek gods and monsters. Like I said, silly but fun!
