I unconsciously laughed in public while reading this. Sakuragi was hilarious. The art is not on par with Vagabond but ok.

Man I can see the 90s basketball vibes already. I can see our Jordan and Rodman already.
The sports-hating leader of a delinquent group, who has a terrible history of striking out with girls, is smitten by a girl who approaches him asking if he plays basketball (since he's so tall), and lies that he loves the game, to impress her. Though he does show signs of promise, soon he's offending real athletes and thuggish upperclassmen, in a series of silly misunderstandings and overreactions.
Not bad, though a bit silly for my taste. By itself I wouldn't feel moved enough to continue this series, but knowing the strength of Inoue from his Vagabond series plus hearing how this is a classic of the sports-manga genre, I am willing to give the next volume a try.

Slam dunk was entertaining but also extremely goofy. I understand that basketball isn't as big in Japan as it is in America so the over explaining of the basics of the game made sense. The character's names got a little jumbled together for me but that is something that happens in almost every foreign work I read. I thought the art work wasn't as good as I have seen in others but the story itself was fun enough.
