Easy and entertaining

COVID have your brain mush? Quarantine have you unable to concentrate on anything for more than 10 minutes at a time? This book is for you. I appreciate the commentary and smiled thru 99% of the book. If you enjoy Will & Grace, you’ll love this book. I’m so glad Gary was born ❤️

I don't know why I picked this out or who Gary Janetti is. If you do you may like this more. I listened to the audiobook, which he narrates. I just found the whole thing listening to him be pretentious. I know perhaps this could be humourous, even to me maybe in the past. But perhaps especially in these times and at this point in my life it didn't resonate with me. I also thought it was jumpy as he goes back and forth in time without making reference to other stories or where they intersected. Otherwise slightly amusing stories mainly of growing up gay in the late 90s in New York.

Comments on the cover talk about how funny this book is. I have to say I found it sad. Most of the essays are about how lonely he was in his youth, yes, some laugh aloud parts but mostly when he was talking about life in the 70s and 80s without the internet. Otherwise I just felt so bad for him and how alone he felt while he was a teenager. It was well written, except for all the parentheses, enough already.

This was a lot of fun and finished with a little bit of self reflection and poignancy that I think was needed to balance out the snark.
