I should have started the Mitch Rapp series years ago. Fast paced and entertaining

While I liked this one...it really seemed like a completely different character than the first two. I now understand that the first two books were written after this one, but I felt like I was reading a completely different series.
I did enjoy this book, but it did seem to drag on. Think I’ll stick with this series a bit longer as I am enjoying them.

Great thrills, but cardboard characters spoil much of the fun.

Vince Flynn never failed to amaze me yet. Granted I've never read much spy-thriller but this novel about a hostile takeover of the White House is packed with intense page-turners of well-crafted action sequences. But Flynn also knows how to describe conversations and deliver the dialogues especially spycraft which could sound a garble of buzzwords from unskilled writer. He carefully lays out the body movements of each character which sometimes I wonder if it's too descriptive or it's what makes the genre better but I'd need to read from other authors to figure it out. For now, this wonderfully adds tension though adds unnecessary overthinking on my part as to judging what the move meant.
The blurb made me anticipate something up to the last pages of the book which somehow didn't deliver especially when an obscured line signified something to me. Overthinking, I guess. This didn't lessen anything from the story and any TV writer should start figuring out putting this in a limited series because so far none can compare to the intensity this story gives on par with 24. Especially if you consider that this was published in 1999, before the 9/11 attacks that was briefly foreshadowed here.

This was a fantastic read. Great pace, absorbing plot, minute detail and realism, just the right amount of tension and levity....
