This is Book #1 in the Furever Yours series. This was my first read by this author and it won't be my last. I love books centered around dogs and dogs on the book cover. Matt comes back into Claire's life when he walks into the shelter looking for a puppy for his niece. Matt has it in his head that he has nothing to offer to Claire, but she sees things very differently. How will she get him to see those things?

A sweet second chance romance + shelter animals = great series start!

It's easy to root for Matt and Claire (and their changing menagerie!)--it's clear from the start that even though Matt had ended things between them years ago that the spark wasn't gone. Fortunately, life seemed to be determined to throw the two of them together almost nonstop; unfortunately, Matt was more sure than ever that he still wasn't the person that could give Claire her HEA. It's hard to say who was more frustrated by his stubbornness, Claire or the reader, but he does eventually get his head out of his you-know-what and decide to grab happiness when it's right in front of him, resulting in a very happy (hopefully) ever after at last.

Along the way there's all kinds of cuteness with the animals they're helping, fostering, adopting, and training, and some rather obvious clues about what direction future series books might take. If you enjoy second chance romance featuring furry secondary characters, give this one a try!

Matt Fielding is finding himself lost – we don’t always know what path to take. Claire Asher’s past has made a reappearance. They show us the good side to pet adoption. We get a perspective from the volunteer at a shelter. Claire is a good example of those that are trying to make a difference. I’m envious of what she does but I know my limits and that’s not to say that it can’t be future idea.

This author caught my heart with her secondary characters – it’s like she knows that I have a soft spot. They’re more like main characters because they are an important component to this story. But the story gave me a heavy heart having lost my fur baby several years ago. One thing that added to that feeling is that this became the perfect snuggle book.

I found myself connecting more to Claire and that’s probably because even though she helps dogs she gave Matt a purpose. But he’s having trouble with his heart – it’s running into a roadblock in the form of his mind and his stubbornness. It was a great second chance romance even though I thought at times Matt needed a good swift kick. It took almost the whole story but he finally won my approval – at times I felt that Claire could do better. This just goes to show you how well this author did in creating something that I would love to see on Hallmark. I can’t wait to see where this series is going to take me. If I had the time, I would get a fur baby to cuddle with, as I read but not sure that I would read the story to her because my mind goes faster than my mouth.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
