I thought I was reading a rom com and it turned into so much more. I am always a fan of found family. And this one was so well done. They just crept up on you. And Catherine really works at figuring out who she is and what she wants. And while these themes really took center stage when I was reading, there is a romance between Catherine and Luca. And one of my new favorite genres or maybe itโs a trope: magical realism. It plays such a small part to the plot, but it had me tear up at one point. It was like forgetting there was one more cookie left in the bag.
I will say it is only told from Catherineโs POV so Lucaโs character is a little less fleshed out until the very end. But seriously with all those beautiful tattoos and scruff, I was intrigued to know more about him from the start.
I loved the opposites attract and grumpy sunshine aspect of the romance. Catherine is so precise in her plans, movements and life, while Luca appears willy nilly in all his choices. But as you can guess, the motives for their actions, slowly become apparent as we get to know the characters better. And while I am not usually a fan of a single POV in a romance, I liked how Catherine discovers more about Luca through all the people around them and how her perception of him changed as her life shifted. They had great chemistry and witty banter and I was rooting for them from the start.
And if you need any more enticement, the supporting characters are so quirky and loveable. A clown, a burlesque troop and a mafia family. They had me in stiches at times, but also had my heart grow with their love and support.
If you are looking for a heartwarming book with a side of swoony romance, this one needs to be on your tbr.

Thank you to the author, Melissa Wiesner. I appreciate the gifted paperback ARC. I am honored to be a part of your ARC team! I am leaving this review voluntarily!
1. ๐๐๐ญ๐ก - Call me a nerd, but Catherineโs love of math called to me! I am a math teacher at heart and miss doing it so much! I totally connected with her!
2. ๐ ๐๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ฒ - Just a touch of the spiritual realm to really draw out the laughter and the tears (especially later in the story)! I loved this touch that was added!
3. ๐๐๐๐ข๐ - Not your usual mafia-type romance here, but Lucaโs large family definitely has some ties to the underground networksโฆall in a good way! Such a loving family that drops everything to help Catherine in her time of need.
4. ๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ก ๐ ๐จ๐ซ - Or it just might come true! I do feel like a person needs to step out of their comfort zone at times in life. There is a big, wide world out there just waiting to be discovered. You never know what youโre missing!
5. ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ - Catherineโs life truly comes to a place where she is able to realize the precious gifts she did actually have her whole life - even with what she was missing. Itโs always the right thing to appreciate the small things (as they say, they just might become the big things)!

๐ Catherine has landed her dream job as a mathematics professor, but when her identity gets lost in the governmentโs system, her whole career is put in jeopardy. Lucky for her, her handsome doorman is on the case and heโs willing to do whatever it takes to help her get her identity back.
๐ญ This was such a cute story of self discovery and found family. I loved the cast of characters. I loved getting to know the other tenants in Catherineโs building. I loved the chemistry between Luca and Catherine. It was so sweet and I liked seeing their crazy antics to try and get Catherineโs identity back. Overall, I just loved how sweet this story was and I even teared up a little bit at the end.

A sweet story of priorities and expectations you put on yourself and finding you're really worth.
Catherine's life is structured and ordered and she likes it like that. Everything in order and has a place after her chaotic childhood with a single father circus performer. The slightest thing out of order adds to her stress. She lives her life to fill the expectations of what she thinks society wants of her, what ideas she created for herself with that in mind.
Then with a little bit of magic that is all upended. Catherine's identity disappears and she is forced to rely on Luca, someone with less structure and order in his life, in order to put hers back together.
This is such an adorable book. Catherine is loveable even in her order and structure obsessed way and seeing her forced to let that go to really find herself is a joy. Luca is an adorably sexy foil for her and his extended family offers so much color to the book.
On a more serious side the lessons Catherine learned about the expectations she set for herself based on societal norms is something everyone can take something from-- how hard are we on ourselves because of how we think we should live? What's wrong with setting our own expectations for ourselves?

I really enjoyed this enjoyable and fun read! It had me wondering if you have to lose yourself to discover who you truly are. Cat has worked hard to finally be starting her dream job as a mathematics professor. She has always done the right thing, followed the rules, and followed her detailed plan so she is lost when her identity disappears and her dream life is in jeopardy. Her juggling dad can't be counted on and she knows nothing about her mom so she's on her own. Except Luca Morelli the doorman in her building is insisting he can help. He is far from organized or rule following so can she trust him? Luca's family, the residents of the building, including some that are recently departed, and the performer friends of Cat's dad add so much depth, heart, and humor to the story. This is a story of family secrets, found family, love and trust. Will Cat find her true self before she loses everything? I highly recommend this book!

This was such a fun magical romance. Catherine was recently hired as a mathematics professor and learns that she doesn't exist according to the government. Her doorman, Luca, jumps in and helps get to the bottom of it.
The story is a big wild goose chase as they meet various members of Luca's family. I really enjoyed seeing Catherine's growth and understood her desire for stability and schedule and how she learned to live life.
There are so many fun moments between Luca and Catherine as well as the residents of rhetorical building.

Oh this book was a good one, Catherine's story was completely intriguing, let see losing your identity is something to worry about and more so when you are a perfectionist like her, I liked her story, she was a character that I really liked her personality and having what happened to her was a breath of fresh air for her because she realized that there is a lot more out there than being 100% correct, when she joins forces with Lucas (and almost all his family) she realizes that he is not the man she thought he was, well yes, he is a little bit irresponsible but for the right reasons, and the more he helps her the more she has feelings for him and let me tell you that I loved that so much, the two of them made a very cute imperfect couple and I liked that. The secondary characters that helped so much to Catherine (the older people) were the ones that stole the whole book because of how adorable they are, the found family here was spectacular and is something that our main character needed. The whole plot twist I saw coming but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of this book, definitely a very good read.
