I hate Fallon only slightly less in this book, but the plot and most of the other characters manage to compensate for her stupidity. What a self absorbed brat.

Every star I gave the book if for Lor

Coming off of book 1 which was 5 stars, I had high hopes for this book but it fell shot in pacing and character development.

Fallon was so whiny and bratty on this book. I could barely handle her attitude and found myself not really liking her as much this book. I got to about the 80% mark before I finally said “there’s the falon I loved in book 1” which is just too long. Even Fallons friends were pissed at her most the book so that part felt super relatable.

There was less of a clear decisive plot in this book and more political jargon and strategy with some family trees and miscommunication thrown in just for fun.

book 1 had such a great plot and worldbuilding, everything was setting up for such a great series - and book 2 did not deliver that for me :/
i wish there had been as fast pace in this book as the previous one, more exploration of the other parts of Luce. FMC & MMC took significant steps back for me as characters. mmc was so mysterious and alluring in book 1 - now that he got a voice again and was actually humanly present, it destroyed all of that. he's just your typical neanderthallic male fantasy character. i'm seriously bummed.
i'm intrigued by the world that i might finish the series but i'm not rushing to.
