I really enjoyed the first book in this series so reading the next was a no brainer. I just wish I would've refreshed my memory on the details of the first before rolling into the second. Story of my life... I do think every time there's a sequel and I know I'll do it again. Regardless, I was able to remember a decent amount to help me get back into this world of Luce and the Crows.

Fallon has awoken the king of the Crows, Lore. What's more, they can mind speak because they're mates. Fallon, hard headed until the end, refuses to accept the concept of her being mated to anyone because that implies that he she has no choice, something she always wants. The power to decide for herself. While she battles this revelation and Lore continues to drive her crazy, Dante is taking over Luce and must be stopped. Bronwen's prophecy says that Fallon will kill him, but she can't imagine how she could kill this man that's been her friend her whole life. It seems, though, that Dante is determined to test that belief.

I struggled getting back into this with all the names and groups of people, but about 40% of the way in, I got there. This is likely mostly thanks to Fallon getting to a point where she started realizing she was being a little crazy about the whole mating thing with Lore. Her hard headedness was driving me nuts. Overall, I'm excited to see what happens in the next book!

⭐⭐⭐⭐

I almost DNF'd this book a lot sooner. I put it down for awhile before giving it another shot in hopes.

And I  had so much hope for
Fallon to put Lore in his place for his controlling, possessive ways. I kept hoping until the public bath scene where he basically said he can touch her w/o consent as they're mates. Like nope. People in relationships can still say no. They have their own autonomy.
. The world building is neat but because of the above I just can't.

Great continuation of the series. There are still moments I want to smack some sense into Fallon but once she gets over her issues I loved her even more! That ending was a terrible cliff hanger and I can't wait for the next book in the series!
