The narrative threads of the first book, which read more like an extended prologue, come together nicely and the pacing really picks up with the second book, which features less talk and more action. Looking forward to seeing how this all wraps up in the finale!

So, Abercrombie's writing style is so easy to read and he has a knack for character development. Even still, this felt like a pit stop in the story and not much happened to really make me feel like this was better than the first novel. I'm giving them both 4 stars because I think 3 stars is probably too low, but this was not as good as the first installment.

Overall a great story and I'm looking forward to the conclusion. Also, Glokta is the best character that I hate.
