It's one of these books I'll probably have to re-read when I become a parent, but I just didn't get it.
Maybe this sub-genre of horror isn't made for me, grief horror.

CW's: Spoilerbody horror, child death (before the events of the book but it gets described pretty graphically), suicide-planning, toxic parents and parenting

This is a tough book to rate because it’s a short read. Chris our main character perfectly embodies the cycles of grief and attempting to find some way to move forward in your life. This author does a great job of delving into emotions through horror and portraying characters that are strong willed and complex when facing uncertainty. I didn’t love the ending which is the only reason I’m taking off one star. It was interesting but didn’t quite feel complete. Look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I loved this story. Being a mother myself their is nothing I wouldn’t do for my children. Losing them is one of my greatest fears and cause of much anxiety. This novella was both gut wrenching and horrifying.
