This suspense filled installment in the Bree Taggert series is one that I couldn't put down. We find Bree trying to settle into her new role, taking care of her niece and nephew and learning her new job as Sheriff. Bree is pulled into an investigation of a reported shooting that turns out to be more complex than face value. Compounding the issue, Bree isn't sure which of her deputies are trustworthy. I enjoyed the unpredictable twists and turns this story took! Thank you to the author andNetGalley for the opportunity to read and advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Love the book for what it is: an easy to read crime story. I like the characters, it’s easy to follow without being to predictable. An easy read while still keeping you on your toes.

Bree Taggert is trying to adjust to her new life as a single parent to her niece and nephew, new job as sheriff and living in a small town. This is her first big case since replacing the dirty cop who preceded her as sheriff. There are twists, turns and red herrings galore. As the case wears on the job settles Bree in ways the rest of her life doesn’t. She knows how to be a cop. The rest will come. I really enjoyed this and look forward to future cases with Bree.
Leigh is amazing!
This is the 2nd book I’ve read of Leigh’s. I love the way she keeps you on the edge. She is so good at twisting the story making you guess and second guess “who done it?” I love that she intertwines the romance in there too!
