Really great story and perspectives. Couple boring chapters but overall still worth the read!!

Let's see.
First of all, I had no idea what to expect because this was my first experience with the author, but I can say it was quite pleasant for such a tricky plotline. I loved her writting style, not overly-descriptive but throwing here and there a few well-chosen adjectives which really contributed with the narrator's style. I also thought that the idea of the fonts changing to match each chapter's point of view bloody BRILLIANT. It really made a difference to me by giving an individual mood and personality to each character, beyond that which is explicitly written.
The story in itself is quite complex, with everyone battling their own personal demons, and managing to be quite relatable to a certain point.
It did have a few details I would have done differently. One of the things I was a little frustrated about was the way Delia's character behaved. I have a personal dislike for people who do not own up to their actions, and Delia had a (quite frankly annoying) habit of demanding certain behaviors and then not being able to bear their consequences. It made liking her a little hard for me because I associate that manner of thinking with a certain childishness for which I have no patience but that also made her flawed and, somehow, more real. The other thing that I felt was a bit of a shame was the need to bring up a certain subject in the climax which, although made the story develop quite nicely, felt like it was needed to make sure the reader was on board with the author's point of view. I guess this is just me, but I liked the moral ambiguity that was happening before that, because it was so arguable for either side. Once that point was made, that interesting ambiguity was gone and everything was kinda black and white, which I felt was unneeded.
All in all, a complex, sometimes difficult to read but still really captivating storyline.

Closer to 2.5. While I ate this up, there was way too much going on, so much that wasn’t important to the story or some that didn’t make sense.

I was annoyed that Delia ended up with Fitz by the end of the story. Especially since he never revealed to her (that we know of) that HE was the reason behind Andrew’s arrest and trial?!?! I was also annoyed by Andrew’s admission at the end that he wasn’t sure whether what he accused Victor of was even true

Enthralling, as all of Jodi’s other books, but I saw the plot twist coming from a mile away in this one. I also thought there were too many subplots and motifs: magic acts, meth labs, Native American folklore (used in a pretty problematic and misappropriated way), the list goes on. The love triangle was also fucking stupid, and honestly a bit fucked up in the end. She dumps her financee for her fiancées best friend?! I found it both cliche and unrealistic

2.2/10

This book went in too many directions at once. I couldn't figure out what the main plot was. I didn't really like any of the characters either.

meh.

I finished it, but it was so very predicable and I didn't find the characters likeable. I didn't really care what happened to them.

Glad it's over so I can start a new book.
