It seemed to drag in some parts. I also disliked the love triangle, but it was overall an interesting story. This is my least favorite book I've read from this author.

This book put me in a serious book slump.

The book reeks of cultural appropriation and white saviour complex, whilst reducing the role of women to objects of men's affections. The writing was littered with tired metaphors and overused cliches, making it difficult to read.
fast-paced

not great. Pretty classic Picolt format but with an unreasonable and unlikable main character who just reacts to the men around her. Odd side plots with upstanding elderly dad in county jail somehow manufacturing prison meth and getting involved in prison gang warfare with a gratuitous “my new unlikely black best friend bleeds out in my arms” moment
