This is a painstakingly researched book that uncovers the ethical, racial, and moral dilemmas around cell culture, which persist today in varying degrees. I had zero scientific background going into this book, but the story was so compelling. The book’s publication and distribution is a big part of the redemptive story for Henrietta Lacks’ family, who struggled through so much sadness and poverty. To be continued...
