incredibly graphic, but also very thought provoking and still very relevant

I don't think I can rate this play, even if I wanted to. Honestly the most violent and vulgar text I've read to date, and definitely one of the most impactful. Kane's added a punch to the face in every single line written, taking a very literal approach to convey the way violence is made into what is effectively pornography in the media. I'm going to be forever haunted by this play.

Sarah Kane’s brutality is extraordinary. She inspires me as a fellow playwright.

I hate shock value fictional literature like this. I admit that if you remove the shock value, there’s still a lot going on. But I just don’t see the point of using violence as a device like this… there are other ways of making a point.

Yes, it is dreadfully explicit. Yes, a baby gets eaten and a man gets raped and got his eyes sucked. In-Yer-Face aesthetics tended to be like that, but if you pass throught all that stuff there is gold.
