Forged by Magic by Jenna Wolfhart is a book I first saw over on Dini's blog! I'm so glad she read it and wrote about it, because this series might be a new favorite of mine. The covers for all of the books are absolutely stunning. Between those and Dini's endorsement, I was excited to read them, with high expectations going in.

They didn't disappoint!

For me, Forged by Magic was absolutely lovely. Utterly worth staying up until 3am on Friday night to finish it. I think I have a thing for blacksmith romances, to be honest. This absolutely lived up to my expectations. I'm immediately reading Brewed By Magic next.

"my love for you is endless, so all-consuming i cannot truly breathe when you're not near. and all i want is to spend the rest of my life trying to make you smile."

this was exactly what i needed, surpassed my expectations. kept me hooked the entire time, it's so fast paced but well paced- the story developed so perfectly. such a cozy october read <3

"where you go, i go. i am with you until the end."

they're so cute, the forced proximity was done right, the sprinkle of enemies to lovers also ate- i enjoyed this more than i thought i would.

"would you like to dance with me?"
"you, dance? i thought you hated parties."
"with you, i would dance until the world ends."

Adorable light-heart fantasy with feel good vibes. I think Jenna did an amazing job of highlighting the Grumpy/Sunshine in this one. The game/challenge plotline was fun to explore.

This was a series I stumbled upon by curiosity, the synopsis was too tempting for me not to give it a try. When I finished, I was amazed by how much I enjoyed this! This now inspired me to read the rest of this series in the near future!

The characters in Forged By Magic are so interesting and varied, so many different races and personalities. It made this island village that much more interesting and idyllic. The main characters Daella and Rivelin were both fascinating, the more you learned about both of them the more similarities that could be found. Daella was optimistic and tried to find the good in certain things despite growing up in horrible circumstances that were out of her control. Rivelin was sort of a loner at first, preferring to be by himself with a strong sense of protecting his village. Soon however we learn that he had a dark past that made him the way he is now and shaped his obsession with protecting his home. Both of them had undergone trauma in their life and were truly looking for something to make them happy, for them to have meaning in their lives. Their romance was so good and the steamy parts were perfection.

The village was so warm and cozy, I honestly wished I could live in this place! The village had so many different people and the people worked together to help their fellow villagers to support them was so heartwarming to see. Which made the idea of wanting to protect this place even more dire as a place like this, it would have been awful if something happened to it. It was wonderful to see people come together to protect their home.

I really want to get to the second book of this series! If the second book is as good as this one was then I will have a new favorite series incoming!

Late to reviewing this but I think this is probably gonna end up being the best book in the series. This, combined with Legends & Lattes, got me into a real cozy fantasy kick and there just isn't enough of that kind of content imo. This started it, but reading the follow up books and reflecting I think the author could use a lot more practice conveying world building and developing characters in a way that doesn't feel contrived.

I still had a good time and it turned me on to the niche subgenre like I said but I've really only cracked open book 3 because it's free on kindle unlimited.

5 stars for Daella and Aska.
2 stars for Rivelin. Daella deserved SO much better
and that epilogue had me laughing when it was supposed to be sweet. like you’re really going to blame her for everything going wrong in your life when all she has done CONSISTENTLY is build you up and try to help you? And then propose to her after ONE damn apology? He didn’t even need convincing to condemn her either. ANY time something bad happened his first thought was to blame her. Meanwhile she is denying allegations about him instantly…EVEN THE ONES THAT ARE TRUE! I would never speak to this man again if he was going to let me become a prisoner again after being one nearly my whole life.
Mabel and Daella are the only real ones here because everyone else was quick to demonize my girl and then welcome her back without acknowledgment or apology. All of them can ROT!

I have so many problems with this book, but the biggest has to be the FMC's fresh water allergy, which makes no sense for an ENTIRE SPECIES
or two
from an evolutionary standpoint. Cool idea, poorly executed. And the smutty bits were p mid, especially since half the time I wasn't sure if they were actually happening or a dream.
