I really loved this story. Evie, Ford and Charley truly make each other whole. My only issue was that there were several editing errors and typos. Typically this would be an automatic loss of a star but I enjoyed the characters and story enough to just dock it half a star instead. Full review to come ...

I feel like this had the potential to being a really good book, but it fell flat. First I never really understood Ford and after she agreed to the deal I didn't like him either. Plus I felt like she barely talked, especially to Ford. I preferred Charley so much more. He was sweet and funny, but I never felt like I really KNEW him or his story. The ending was such a cop out too. Like something bad happens and all is forgiving!? No real work necessary? It's so annoying, like I know truths were made known but that's all it took? So annoying.

Although the book is well written and the spice is too, the psycho-emotional aspects of a safe BDSM relationship are nowhere to be found in this book. Ford's behaviour is emotionally abusive, and no amount of 'tortured childhood' can excuse that. And the forgiveness extended to him at the end of the book is not earned and is in fact a dangerous thing to portray.

The book is well written, hence 3*s. But that perhaps makes it worse, because this type of portrayal of BDSM can get people hurt. This book makes all of the same mistakes about BDSM as 50 Shades did. A good Dom, a true Dom, takes his sub's psycho-emotional comfort and safety seriously. The trust extended by a sub should never be abused in the way it was portrayed in this book.

Additionally, portraying a sub in the way this book did is dangerous. There were multiple  times that the FMC should have used her safe word and didn't - and this refusal to use it was portrayed as her being 'tough enough', 'strong enough' etc - and that it a deeply dangerous idea to spread. Safe words should be used liberally, without fear, whenever needed. Using a safeword is not a sign of weakness or lacking. A Dom trusts a sub within a scene to use their safeword when needed, not using it is breaking that trust.

So, sure reqd the book for the story, and the spice BUT DO NOT CONFUSE THIS STORY WITH A HEALTHY BDSM RELATIONSHIP.

DNFed at 50% Not enough emotional connection or potential for emotional connection from Ford.

Evie is a paralegal in a bad predicament with her boss- he's blackmailing her into staying with him and doing all his work. As she goes about taking care of his clients, the big kahuna of clients, Ford, wants some special attention, which Evie gives him, and it gets her fired. She goes from under her boss's thumb to under Ford's. She is working for Ford as his scantily clad, BJ-giving personal assistant. I wasn't overly thrilled with the whole thing at this point. Enter Charley, Ford's best friends, who seems to be the only person who actually cares about Evie's feelings.

No rating. It wasn't that the story was bad, it just wasn't for me.

Discovered this book on KU. Off the charts hot, hot, hot. Well written, plot interesting, and good intriguing character development and dynamics. Highly recommended. Started a tiny bit slow, but once it got going...off the chain. Loved it.

Good, fun but sometimes a bit too melodramatic and cheesy.
