I DNF’d this book. I haven’t done that in forever. I fell asleep reading it three times and typically I’ll pull all nighters to finish books or at least have to make myself stop reading. I wish that it wasn’t advertised as being like haunting Adeline because maybe it would’ve felt different but… that’s what happens when you compare your book to other books.
This is nothing like Haunting Adeline. It feels like the author read Haunting Adeline and decided to like watt pad their own version of it.
A lot of the reviews already say what I wanted to say. The suspense was lacking, the fact that she gave in immediately regardless of her personal morals, how mean he was. Zade was fucked up but he never like.. Aero called Bri a slut by painting it on a wall and sent around a video of her making out with another guy. I just didn’t feel chemistry.
I think with dark romance, stalking, all the pain and pleasure shit, you need good chemistry for it to not be a straight assault.

Oh wow!
The only problem I had with the book was Brionys' age.
It was only mentioned twice, so I actively ignored it and imagined her to be 25
Cause let's be real she was nothing like an 18yo
Also, it was about 100, 150 pages too long.
The last smut scene was so beautiful that I wanted to scream.
The writing was beautiful and Aero was the fucked up Anti-hero I always love to read about.

Not really sure how I feel about it.
So I fell for a tiktok rec with this one and I am glad to say that I was not let like I usually am. I'm going to be honest and say that this book has tropes that I try my hardest to steer clear of. I feel that most authors are lazy with the virgin trope, using it as an excuse for their strong, intelligent FMC to allow bad behavior from the MMC or fall for harsh words meant to save the girl due to nievete. This author gave us a very intelligent FMC and built her to be strong through the story and I love that. I whole heartedly thank the author for that. I love the character arcs for both our FMC and MMC and love that the author gave us an MMC that truly admired the FMC for her strength and intelligence through out the story.

Spoilers and triggers
Many say this book is hoy as fuck. And it is. This book is concentrated around sex and religion. It is a sick insight into how people manipulate their followers in a religious pretense that what they're doing is sanctioned by God. Although not all religions are this way, it brings to light what could possibly be happening behind doors and hoe many people turn a blind eye to it for fear of losing status. In the book it mentions that the men of the organization are the ones that right the rules and eill do anything to stay in power. It is an abuse of power that often gets dismissed as they're "Men of God".
Aero is a product of growing up in this organization and therefore makes a hard left and decides to do sacrilegious things to the name of God. I couldn't really be turned off from him with what he did as I understood the root of the problem. His relationship to Bryone is obsessesive in nature and is the only form of "love" he knows. It was heartbreaking seeing the mind of someone so wrongly treated their whole life and how it mapped their future. I cried with this book at the injustice of organized religion. It has multiple triggering things that involve religious aspects as well as CNC and other sexual things. Please read those before attempting to read this book. Overall it was a well written book.
