I received an e-ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review! Thank you to BOOM! Studios and Netgalley!

This is the first volume in a multi-volume graphic novel series following four main characters! If you like scooby doo mixed with supernatural elements AND are looking for a story with sapphic and non-binary representation then The Last Specter is for you! This story had me enthralled from the very first illustration, I love the deep blues and greens that contrast the deep reds throughout this story. One of my favorite things about graphic novels is how it helps personify the story with the style and color palette used by the illustrator(s). This is no different! I thought the palette matched the story perfectly. This story edges on super spooky but balances it would with the banter between the characters, which I loved. This story had me on the edge of my seat, rooting for the characters and feeling the many complicated emotions they did. The diversity within this story was something so amazing and important to see!

I was surprised to find there were more volumes to this story, in all honesty, because the ending closed up quite a lot of things. I suppose the authors were kind of following the Scooby-Doo pattern where the storyline ends neatly for that mystery and then moved onto the next mystery as the viewers (or readers in this case) get to see more development of the characters throughout each volume. I am excited to see what the next volumes hold for our lovable cast of inspooksters!
