3.55 AVERAGE

3.5, Not my fav by this author, but it was still entertaining and sweet.

2.5

Actually 3.5 stars. It was good!

While I enjoyed Kira and Jonas’ story, I definitely preferred Nixon and Zoe’s more. On to Quinn’s next!

Not my fav Sarina Bowen. I was entertained for a while, but by the end it all felt formulaic.

Second chance romance are my favourite and I absolutely loved Lies & Lullabies.

Lies & Lullabies is book #1 in the Hush Note series, where every book is by a different author  but each book can be read as a standalone.

I pre ordered all three books in the series without even reading the blurbs so I didn't know anything about the plot but as soon I started reading Lies & Lullabies I discovered it has some of my fav tropes-  second chance , rock stars and kids/  accidental pregnancy.

Kira and John aka Jonas spend one amazing  summer together in Nest Lake, Maine but Jonas never connected Kira again  even after she wrote him a letter about how she feels about him. When she discovered she was pregnant she decided not to let him know and five years later on a weekend visit to her dad's house in Nest Lake, Maine she saw Jonas again.

I absolutely loved reading about Kira and Jonas, I loved reading about their summer together when they were younger and I really enjoyed reading how they got to know one another again.
The chemistry between them was still there but Kira didn't trust Jonas and he was mad at her for not telling him she was pregnant. Add to it the fact Jonas is a big rockstar and it wasn't easy for them to have a second chance.
The secondary characters really added to the story, their daughter Vivi is adorable and I loved reading about her - she was so funny and cute. Kira's brother Adam was also a great addition to the story, I loved how supportive and helping he was to both Kira and Vivi.
Some of my fav scenes were with Vivi and Adam, they were so funny and really stole my heart.

Sarina gave us just enough information about Quinn  and Nixon ( the other band members ) to want to read their books next.

I read the Kindle edition on release day and I also listened to the audiobook 2 weeks later and it was so good.

I don't listen to many audiobooks since I rather read the books but I really enjoyed Lies & Lullabies in audio, the performance was great and it made me want to listen to more audiobooks.

I read this book fast, skimming some parts, because I was simply dying to know how the story turned out. And it didn’t disappoint at all!!! Then I went back to the beginning so savor the story, every single yummy part. This author writes such hunky heroes, and in this case, she wrote a good guy. Jonas may have had issues, he may have been a little lost in previous years, but now he knows what he’s been missing and who he loves, and that’s Kira, his Sweetness girl.

Five years ago, they shared a wonderful summer. It was platonic, an exercise in control for Jonas, an exercise in trust for Kira. On the last night, Kira asked something out of Jonas, and ended up pregnant. But Jonas disappeared and she didn’t find out who he really was until eighteen months later. From a sweet and gorgeous man who made her trust in men and love again, she found out he’d omitted some information and turned out to be a famous rockstar.

Jonas came back to this bitty little town in Maine for two days of clearing his head. He needed to write music for a new album and he wanted to remember the happy days he’s spent here five years ago. He didn’t expect to find Kira in town, and get the surprise of his life!

I loved the story and loved the characters. Especially Adam and Ethan! These two were so cute! Jonas has the usual issues of a rockstar, utter loneliness in the midst of a crowd, mistrust in the sincerity of those around him, an emptiness that comes out of not having a special someone to give his life meaning. I didn’t connect as well to Kira because she was almost always a basket case. She was always stressing out about something, she had issues about Jonas’ fame, had issues of not being enough. She’d gone through a traumatic experience in her freshman year in college that causes her to have anxiety and panic attacks, so there was that too.

Their story was slow burning, slow to come to terms and trust, and subjected to super hot steamy sexy times. There was love, but there was work to adjust to each other. And there was a precious little girl who had no trouble at all adjusting to new people to love her! This story read fast because this author is brilliant keeping a tight story. Love it!

January - Sarina Bowen RAL

A 2nd chances trope with a rockstar and secret baby. Crazy, right? But Sarina Bowen's writing kept it from becoming mired in angst. The plot was minimal and we really needed a little more to help with the leap between Jonas lusting after Kira and then wanting to spend the rest of his life with her. That being said, my favorite parts were some of the secondary characters: Vivi, Adam, and Ethan.
