ok damn... this was adorable

First: lovely art. second: the silly humor actually made me laugh. Third: When i was reading I thought the fmc to be on the neurodivergent spectrum or a very anxious person, either way, i liked her character so much.

With that being said, I Didn’t like the romance. My main complaint is that I don’t enjoy romance wherein everything &every interaction accrues wouldn’t at all happen in real life, but y’know, people who read those books are escaping life itself, so it’s really just different opinions and tastes, not the author fault by any means. I also didn’t understand why they fell in love, they could be very good friends but i don’t see it going any further, which isn’t necessarily bad, not at all, I would actually enjoy it much more if it was just friendship story.

Oh also, I thought it was obvious but here we are: let’s not kiss someone without their consent. Let’s not make such scenes in any media even for just a cute, innocent, or funny moment. It’s an assault, and some readers could be encouraged the wrong way.

Quiero seguir leyendo.

Love. That’s an understatement Vol. 1 by Fujimomo is a YA romance manga.

Risa is a shy and studious high school student; she doesn’t ask for help, is always prepared for any situation, and carries a heavy backpack that contains everything. One day she met Zen, who was injured, and offered him help. After that day, they encountered each other several times. Risa might come off as grumpy, whereas Zen is completely the opposite of her; he is a happy-go-lucky guy. Risa is a relatable character. Their relationship progresses slowly but in a healthy way, and they help each other.

This manga is really cute. I love the story; the pacing was perfectly done. I love the art style, and I also love the detailing.

(First of all, thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange of an honest review).

Risa Amakawa is a cool and collected high school student that has something in her heavy bag for every situation, and the last thing she needs—or knows how to ask for—is anyone’s help. When she saves a beat-up delinquent in the park one rainy evening, she refuses any sort of repayment. But it turns out that saving the notorious Zen Ohira buys her the attention of some unsavory characters. As Zen keeps swooping in to help her out of one pickle after another, her feelings about relying on anyone but herself—and her feelings toward Zen—slowly begin to change… A new rom-com from the author of Lovesick Ellie!

Okay, If you know Fujimomo you know she is the author of Lovesick Ellie (I've reviewed volume 1) and I didn't enjoy the manga because of a lot of red flags. But this one? IT IS GOLD. OH MY GOD, I'M 16 AGAIN. The badass vibe guy that actually is a cinnamon roll? P E R F E C T. I love him so much, I need them together ASAP. This Volume is so good that you'll read it non-stop. She is so cute because all her life has stayed away from people thinking she had to fend for herself and not depend on anyone. BUT SHE IS LEARNING, SHE IS TRUSTING (WITH TINY STEPS) ZEN AND I'M HERE FOR THEM.

Sorry for the capital letters but I'm excited and I want you to know it. I need the next one ASAP!

Wow that was actually a very cute volume. The first volume takes it's time to introduce the reader to the main character and her starting love Interest. One day Risa helps a beaten up punk and from that day on they start to interact with each other. Risa is a more quiet and introvert person who has trouble interacting with others. She wishes to be free like the other but has a big burden. Zen, the punk she helped, on the other hand seems to complement that perfectly. He helps her understand herself better and stirs up her feelings. I really loved to see Risa opening up. Besides this Zen is a nice character and respecting Risa. There interaction and development is cute and nice to see. I love how Zen changes Risas world. Zen is still mysterious. I hope the next volumes will be also that good.
