I hated this book. It's cliche, heavy handed and ridiculous. However, it would make a good beach read as long as you never stopped to think about anything that was happening.

This is technically the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. The characters were interesting and there were some good twists, but there was a lot to try to keep track of. Some of the chapters were very short and pov switched between at least 8 characters, which made the book feel like it was written as a screenplay.

I wasn’t a fan of the romance between the main characters, there was no romantic build then was just added in on the final pages. It seemed forced and like it was added just because the two main characters were a man and a woman, especially because less than two days prior the main character was still thinking about his love interest from the first book. It would have been just as good as a book if they parted as friends.

While not a fan of Brown's prose, his plots, while ridiculous, are fast-paced and charge you along to the end in no time. A decent read if you're looking for a bit of quick escapism.

Though I read this years ago, I still remember being taken on a journey that I wanted to stay on. great read. I'd read it again.
