This was not what I expected at all! The story took an unexpected turn and once I started reading I had to know about Brian and what the f..k was going on with all those organs!

Right at the start we're thrown into a nightmare with visual, olfactory, tactile and auditory descriptions so accurate that I just wanted to clean myself and felt so grossed out even after putting the book down!! In all of this, there is a continuous sense of claustrophobia, disorientation and anxiety creating the perfect atmosphere. When finally I thought I got some respite, I felt suddenly catapulted in a ghost town with a similar feel to Silent Hill with unthinkable things coming at you! But this is not the end and it just gets better and better until the end.

What I really liked is that all of this has a purpose and all the weirdness and gore is not just thrown for the sake of it but it is the focus of the story and it wouldn't make sense without it. And on top of that there are several twists that keep you hooked to the book. Finally, what an ending, not satisfying at all I must say (you'll know what I mean if you read it) but the only one that really fitted.

I'm now a fan of Derek Heath, managing to combine a great story reminiscent of the old B movies (which I love) with a well developed main character and lots of gore, guts and so many other organs to keep my horror hunger at bay for a while!

Thanks to Derek Heath for a copy and this is my honest opinion.
