I was excited to read Powerless and I expected a lot from it. I was interested right from the beginning, but I also began to notice some flaws right from the beginning.

There are a few things within the actual writing that got really annoying.
1) The constant repetition of absolutely everything. Words, tropes, descriptions, dialogue, etc.
2) 'Evident' and 'evidently' being used in the exact same sentence with the exact same context just a few words apart from each other ???
3) There was two or three times when I was confused who was speaking in dialogue sections.

However it was an enjoyable book to read and I’ll give the next book a go when it’s released.

solid 3 stars!

some notes:

1. thievery as a means to survive is lame to me. ya i said it. paedyn is young, strong, skilled, and intelligent - THAT'S the best she could do for her life? smh.

2. i kept imagining kai & paedyn as the weird couple in the hallway at school, the way they were constantly close/touching each other without anyone saying anything to them ???

3. i get the hunger games comparison, sure, except the hunger games made wayyy more sense... let me explain: if the elites are so ...well, elite, why are they going into trials to potentially die?? & everyone seems super into them, so why is paedyn acting all high & mighty? wouldn't she see it as some sort of spectacle too, since she grew up in the kingdom (& never thought she'd qualify) ??

4. the chemistry between paedyn & kai felt forced to me; i am team kitt right now!

5. the ending was dope, i love the idea that she's an enemy of the kingdom now and can't wait to see how it plays out!!
