This was such a good book and I think if I had read it at a different time, it could've been five stars. There are a lot of parallels to the Hunger Games and that kind of took me out of it. I also read it when I was in a slump. However, this is the BEST romance I have ever read in a book. Kai is my favorite book boyfriend and I cannot wait to read the next one.

I don’t actually have a spoiler review for this one because I read like 30 pages then stopped. It just wasn’t good. The writing quality? Boring tropes? The biggest thing that turned me off immediately was pages of monologues just to tell us world or character contexts. Ever heard of show not tell? Who wants to start a book and it’s just pages of monologues with very little of anything else?

Powerless & Powerful. I am writing the review as one because I did a tandem read. This was my first tandem and I absolutely loved it. It just felt like it was one book, jumping among four characters. Lauren Roberts writing in these two novels was so captivating. The words put instant pictures in my mind and I can so see this being a movie one day. I cried, I laughed out loud, I was on the edge of my seat. I absolutely adored Paedyn. She’s strong, courageous, never backs down, and an all around badass! I couldn’t put it down. These will be at the top of my list for 2024 reads. I highly suggest the tandem if you haven’t read these two gems.
