okay so this one was middle of the road type of book. I went in blind based on recommendation from a booktuber and I am not mad about it.

I felt like this book was from a romance author cause the banter was chef's kiss. It intrigued and kept me reading because I read a book about an enforcer type of character soon-ish and I wouldn't have read another similar book directly after that. The book was fun and made me smile and then we reached the resistance and here I became worried cause this could go down really quickly.. nothing surprised me but the plot wasn't bad fortunately so I am not mad about it (3stars).
Spoiler Also, I needed to suspend my disbelief alot near the ending cause no way in hell she could run/fight/act all of that only from adrenaline when she literally had a shock physically and mentally within minutes
.
The ending felt lacking + predictable to me
Spoiler I needed some kind of end to the resistance to be intrigued what will happen to them next. Also, I guess I'll miss the banter and the relationship between the brothers in the next book which were my most enjoyable points
so I'll wait for the reviews before reading the next book

Side note: I loved the audiobook and the narrators. There was no music or any special effects but still this is one of my fav audiobooks recently.

I spent about 85% of this book rolling my eyes at the cringey dialogue or all the near plagiaristic parallels between Powerless and the Hunger Games. But for some reason I felt compelled to keep reading.

The last 50 or so pages is when the ball really started rolling and I’ll say I even felt invested in what was going on. My last progress review I wished for some drama between the love interests and without spoilers I’ll say fine, I certainly got what I wished for.

If you had asked me in the last 100 pages if I planned to read the sequel, my response would have been undecided. Now that I am finished, I plan to get my hands on the sequel ASAP.

this book is still only three stars because it was not very original and had more potential. I hope the next book provides that originality.

4 Stars, but had potential to be 5. It’s like a magical hunger games with better banter. The book was witty and entertaining, but I somehow was left wanting more from both the love interests and the plot itself. I attribute that to the book being a YA novel and almost wish it wasn’t. I like the point of view switching between the two main characters, but I often found it switching either too soon or too late and jumbled the storyline. Nonetheless, it was a fun read that I’ll be recommending.

Hunger Games meets fantasy with elite powers and ordinary people trying to survive. Paedyn is forced to grow up quickly in a dystopian world, and then selected to fight in a tournament for her life. The story was actually not as predictable as I thought it would be. Looking forward to reading the other books in this trilogy!

The banter in this book had me squealing! But by the end it felt like my heart had been torn out and shredded into pieces. Can’t wait for the next one!!!
