My first introduction to this author. I am grateful to have found her books. I am even more thankful that my two daughters shared her with me while they were attending Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

I read this book in high school & decided to reread it because it impacted me so much. Reading it again, with a more mature mindset, it impacts me even more. The stories of being a wife & a mother really hit home & create a strong connection to Shauna & God.

While I liked some of the essays included in this book -- they're good to lift the spirits, which seems to be the goal -- after passing the point where Shauna has her baby, I found it hard to relate.

Shauna Niequist reminds me of Donald Miller; she makes sense of ideas and thoughts that I have, only in my head they're all jumbled up. As I read her stories, over and over I thought "Yes! That's me! I feel like that. I thought I was the only one." Just like me, she feels messy, broken, and insecure most of the time. In "Cold Tangerines," she says that it's okay. God loves us just as much when we suck at life - thank goodness for that! Niequest inspires me to focus on doing the best I can instead of trying to be perfect and to enjoy the little everyday moments that make life beautiful, interesting, and fun.

I absolutely love this book and Shauna's writing. She's honest and funny and makes the reader feel like she's sitting right next to them having a conversation. She's writes as if you already know each other and are old friends catching up.

Love and love.

I really enjoyed this book and I probably should have read it first before reading Bittersweet. I love how Shauna is relatable as an author. Her authenticity as she explores her life is appreciated. I also love how she is writing about her relationship with God in an everyday way.

It was a good easy read. Vulnerable stories about her life and what she has learned.
