Honestly, this is probably one of the last pic genres for me. If it wasn't for bookclub, probably would have never stumbled across this book. There where def places that made me gag a bit and you know, clinch my jaw at the stress. But I also laughed and cried and enjoyed the what the fuck ride. I don't recommend reading this whole inbrated because it wild. But I do think I just recommend the book if people are open to this kind of thing.

Reminiscent of John Dies At the End in terms of vibe and tone, and in how visceral (and usually painful or gross) the paranormal works.

I dug it a lot, although now I'm snapping with impatience for the sequel. I didn't realize it was book one of a duology until I was nearly through the end, oops. That said, this book DOES bring the plot to a conclusion, while still leaving it clear what could possibly happen in book two.

I enjoyed this book. I didn't like the ending, but I've found out it's going to have a sequel, and it definitely set that up. I'm still giving it the high rating. I did have to look up a LOT of words and could have done without feeling like I needed a thesaurus.
