Did I decide to read a loosely themed Christmas book in March? Yes. Did I mind? No.
I have been reading this series since the first book was released and I haven't missed a year yet. Albeit this year slightly delayed. Although each book has a Christmas themed title and cover, they're not particularly Christmas-y; they just take place at that time of year. Each book is a different crime solved by Detective James Walker and the team and sadly, this crime wasn't my favourite so far. I didn't feel like I got engrossed in the crime itself or cared about the victims in the story. That meant that I didn't feel any true urgency to get to the bottom of who the suspects were.
That said, I had to keep going and I did have to see the story come to a resolution. There were lots of red herrings and it took me some time to even consider that the culprit was even a possibility.
In a similar vein to the previous book, there was less about James' personal life in this story and again, I missed it. He does have a personal predicament to battle with which I am assuming is going to continue in the next book but other than that, he was 100% focused on his work. I have to say, his wife had the patience of a saint and was a strong woman than me.
Overall, this was an easy book to follow and I did enjoy it. The crime wasn't something that had me gripped, but the investigation was interesting; as to be expected. A Christmas book in March turns out to be completely doable.

It’s Christmas , 4 walkers go away to snowy Cumbria …
This is the 4th instalment in the DI Walker series - can be read as a stand-alone you don’t have to read the first 3 .
Fast paced - when Walker gets the call to say that the 4 men have gone missed by , it’s winter and snow on the ground they know they must act quickly!
When the body of 1 of the men is found not frozen but dead it quickly escalates into a murder investigation with the press using the tagline “ Let the hunt begin”
It transpires that the 4 men were there to fox hunt ! This changes everything , great Christmas thriller .

This book was not for me. It was too simple. The language was laughably childish. The thoughts of the main character were that of a 5 year old, not a seasoned detective. The obsessive discourse on fox hunting? So boring. I truly felt this was a procedural written by a child.

I read the Christmas Killer when it was first released, and every year since I've looked forward to the next installment. Christmas and mystery are two of my favourite aspects of books, so they're such a treat for me.
This time, the victims are fox hunters and so there is much controversy around the case, many disagreeing with their actions, as well as hunt saboteurs who protest their actions- so therefore there are a number of suspects who could want revenge.
I really enjoyed seeing this story piece together, as well as James Walker's home life and the beautiful backdrop of the lakes. Overall this was a really good story, and I'll look forward to seeing where things go next!
