Will come back to it later- have some proofs to get through ASAP!

The Night Before Christmas was such a wild ride. The reader gets thrown into the mystery when the disappearance of four men is reported. We are greeted by the original police team who are quickly on the scene, although they soon learn that they will be working another Christmas. They begin to investigate the disappearance until a body turns up. Then they are against the clock if they want to find the other men alive.

I loved the characters in this book, the books are seamless and the characters are consistent. These books can be easily read as standalones but the books do follow the lives of the police team so that’s how they are connected. The book had a good pace and I was hooked from the first page. I couldn’t believe the ending, I was completely shocked by what I read. I thought I had worked it out but I was so far from it. So many of the characters were suspicious and I had a hard time deciding who was being truthful.

These books are so entertaining and they are easy to read. The writing style makes it so quick to fall into the book and into the plot. I was hooked from the first page and the suspense was gripping throughout. The book flows well from the previous books and I am excited to see where the author goes next. I highly recommend this book and the previous books in the series, i absolutely love reading them!!

This is the 4th book in the series following DCI James Walker. Again another book set at Christmas in the Lake District. This man needs to go on holiday at Christmas as all the murders have occurred since he joined this police force 4 years ago.

It's a cosy read that I do enjoy as I like books that follow characters that I could easily watch as a Netflix series and this is one of them.

I think what makes it loose stars for me is the killer I can always predict quite easily early on and there are no unexpected twists also it's not as gory as I like a murder book to be.

An easy to read book at Christmas

I've enjoyed the previous DI James Walker books, so was looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, it just didn't quite hit the mark this time and took me a bit longer to read.

There didn't seem to be much background to the characters this time and I felt I couldn't quite get that connection with them.

The trail hunters bodies were found over 75% of the book and then it felt like the discovery of the murderer and catching them was rushed through that last 25%.

5 Stars. Probably Pine’s best Christmas mystery yet. It’s a fantastic series to read before the Holiday and this fourth one is now part of the tradition for me.

The mysteries and characters are really, really good. This one was tight right until the end. I figured it out , but I figured it out at the right time to make it enjoyable. Give this series a try. You’ll thank me later.
