"The night began with blackmail: Eight o'clock. Portgrave Pier. Can you keep a secret?"
~
Good Girls Die First follows a group of 10 teenagers, each with a secret they don't want coming to light. And when they get to the pier, through a series of happenings they can't get back off.
~
One person confesses their secret, and are soon found dead. And as more of them confess, they too are found dead. It becomes a question of how far are the remaining group willing to go to keep their secret, and with it their guilt.
~
When I went into this I knew it might become a little difficult to continue, either because of the murders and deaths, or because of the fact that anorexia is mentioned in the trigger warnings. And though I finished it, that's not to say I didn't stop and take a breath each time I came to them talking about the disordered eating passages.
~
This book definitely reads like a thriller, and even though I didn't quite know how it was going to play out when I started, and I wasn't sure I'd get into I and enjoy it, I did. I didn't totally want to put it down, but at the same time, I could only read so much at once. It's a well written book, however, it's not my favourite of the thrillers I've read by this author previously.
Graphic: Death, Murder, and Fire/Fire injury
