Interesting and held my attention. It helped me reflect back on my own childhood. There were parts that were hard to read but worth it.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book I couldn’t put down but Meg Kissinger’s “While You Were Out” did just that. Filled with thoughtful, often painful, insight into her family’s experience with severe mental illness and laced with dark & light humor a like, I felt myself flying through each story, anecdote, and memory to get to the next one. It is a story both shocking and somehow relatable on so many levels. Meg Kissinger’s book has made me think deeper, laugh, gasp, and cry all in three days. What a wonderful book. I will be recommending to so many of my friends and family.
