Compared to the Empyrean: slightly less gut wrenching/stressful plot line, slightly better storytelling in terms of falling in love, slightly less good spicy scenes.
Interesting to reread with this in mind:
- He knew she would en coming as his mate but expected Faye
- lust has a smell for the Faye
- quicksilver is talking to the gods?
- oshaylith/oshea means most sacred. Weakness that he is referring to is her - his weakness for her
- he's in love with her, I think, by the second dinner (ch 19) at he house where he grew up. Did he fall and accept his fate at the first dinner there??

This absolutely changed the game for me in terms of getting out of my reading slump. The way I could NOT put this down?! Carrion Swift was so wonderfully written - mystery, troubled past, trauma, loyal, and even a secret romantic?! I am still in awe of the world building Callie hart created in only one book - I seriously hope the sequel arrives in 2025 or earlier.
saeris fane reminds me so much of myself in terms of her utter inability to listen to directions - we’re all unbothered as first borns I’m sorry! - as well as her sheer loyalty to her family and staying alive. Her spirit was never broken despite all of the pain and suffering she experienced - moreover, finding a new inner strength in herself was even more inspiring as a reader. The way this novel ended too? I can only imagine where this series or trilogy will go. Callie Hart you have cemented yourself as a repeat author for me for sure.

.... The characters "chemistry" is non-existent. They just argue a lot, and not in a fun way. The general vibe was pretty good for the first while but little details just got more and more annoying.
