Here are a few of my favorite things:
- “No one can touch her but me”
- Food sharing
(and jealousy over others food sharing) - Smelling arousal
Biting during sexy times - Fated mates
- “I’ve tried resisting you…. But I want you too much”
Did it have all of those tropes and more?
Yes, yes, and yes!
Did my toes curl as the tension between the main love interests built?
Absolutely.
Oh, absolutely not.
Is this the best, most original book I’ve ever read?
No.
Did I thoroughly enjoy it and am I eager for the next?
Of course!
Quicksilver has all the elements that make for a great romantasy. A sassy MC. A brooding heartthrob of a love interest. A good amount of spice. Fae. A magical world on the brick of destruction.
I really enjoyed Saeris being a blacksmith, and appreciate that the author gave her a reason to be good with a sword rather than just making her a badass.
Kingfisher took a bit to grow on me. Honestly, I’m not entirely sure I understand his personality.
Carrion Swift absolutely stole the show for me. When it showed up, I didn’t know what to expect, and he blew me away every time. I just love the banter and friendship between him and Saeris. I can’t wait to see how he develops.

A little slow to get into but then I was hooked. If someone had told me this is the interesting parts of ACOTAR but done SO. MUCH. BETTER. I would've read it way sooner. Can't wait for book 2 in November!
Very…interesting. Such a drag until 300ish pages in & then it really picked up & got interesting. Will I be reading the next book? Yeah. Was it worth the free kindle unlimited read? Also yeah
Things I didn’t love:
1. Some of the language completely breaks the flow of the story bc it’s sooo cringey imo. Really wish she had omitted that
2. Also some things are so crude?? & misogynistic/degrading??? Actually had to take breath a few times bc I was so uncomfortable. I get the purpose but rubbed me the wrong way
3. Felt like some things were pulled directly from fourth wing. Enemies to lovers who can speak to each other through their minds? The fact that fisher can bend shadows and Saeris has her own special power? Literally xaden & violet in a different universe. Wish that aspect was a bit more original.
4. Please please chose anything but the enemy to be vampires. I actually rolled my eyes.
5. Still feel very confused about a lot of this world building. There’s layers on layers and so many characters that either have super common names or super unique names it was difficult to keep track of everything
3 stars bc plot wise it was good (once the ball finally started rolling). I have my issues but I did enjoy the last 40% a lot.

It took me a while to get into this book. I tried to read it at first and I just felt like it started off so good, then it got slow. it once again picked up after like 60%. Finished it off as an audiobook. The writing was great it flowed easily, but sometimes it was boring. the characters I loved them so much! Saeris, Onyx, Carrion, Ren, Lorreth, god I loved them so much! especially Lorreth, idk why but I just love him! Fisher on the other hand I absolutely didn't know how to feel about it from the beginning, holy shit did he annoy the hell out of me with how rude he was. I wanted to scream at times! LIKE DUDE! GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS! Like I get it, a tortured shadow daddy, but sometimes it was just too much *FOR ME*. but by 60% he grew on me, when he dropped his act and by the end I absolutely loved him. I didn't see how Saeris and Fisher were going to work out, but it was perfect! The bad guys? The twist? Oooh yes yes yes I love an author that makes me HATE the villains and this was perfection. I'm rounding this up to a 4.5 because it wasn't a 5 star read but it was so damn close. I loved Quicksilver!
!!!!! This was such an incredible read! I could not put it down! I was constantly waiting to get home to read more everyday. Can not wait for the next book!!

2.5 stars, gave it an extra .5 because the last 10-15% was finally interesting. Love a lot of the plot points in theory but was pretty bored and found it hard to get through.
