Loved the story. Hated she had to change to be more for the story to continue (when will the FMC be enough as she is).  I do love the misleading cover. All this time I thought eventually we would get into his story, but all the while it was hers. Love that.

The end felt a bit eushed, but I understand the lapse in time and memory, for plot...but again... why could she not be enough already...

I will definitely read the next in the series, but skeptical about where it will go.

I didn't want to read it because I thought the book was overhyped, like many popular books that I didn't enjoy (yes, I was biased about it)

But surprisingly, this was better than 4 Wings for me.

It's well written, interesting, and atmospheric.

Not a single character annoyed me!

One moment reminded me of The Book of Azrael, and I was like:

Simply put, this book is good, but not worth the hype. It is your average fantasy novel, nothing particularly special about it.

*spoilers ahead*

I absolutely loved the writing style. The way Hart was able to capture the setting and draw you in with every new place was enchanting. The world building was fantastic, and i loved the magic system. The plot was great as well, not necessarily unique, but interesting enough.

This book was so long, and honestly did not need to be. Hart easily couldve made it 200 pages shorter if there wasnt so much info dumping. It honestly was a bit of a struggle to get through around 60% percent of the way, simply because it was quite slow paced and i wasnt keen enough to need to keep reading. I feel like it needed a bit more action and peril considering the characters stated they would die any day now in the war, and yet i didnt feel that same sense of urgency and danger.

I loved all of the characters, particularly Ren and Carrison. I love the family dynamic most of the characters had with Kingfisher. I think Kingfisher is my newest book boyfriend bc who wouldnt be obsessed. Whilst i feel the badass FMC idea is overdone, i thought Saeris’ personality was refreshing. At no point in the book did she turn into an insecure pick-me, but i felt she did lose her signature sass and i wish that was maintained towards the end of the book.

Theres nothing i love more than an enemies to lovers trope, and to have that dynamic between both Kingfisher and Carrison was fantastic. However, personally, i hate the ‘fated mate’ trope so much, so this was a huge let down.

I thought the entire scene with the God of Chaos was so unnecessary, just dragged out the ending. However, i did like the ending.

Overall, not a bad book, just didnt live up to the expectations i had simply bc of how hyped up it was. I still enjoyed it and was obsessed with characters and think it was a decent read.
