Off the back of finishing Onyx Storm, I need more Romantasy to fill the void. This did not disappoint.
Thoroughly loved the amount of fantasy, the world building and unique take on Faes. Spicy scenes were excellent, all be it a bit familiar. And we had lots of plot twists to keep us guessing. Overall, it was better written then most romantasies I've recently written *cough* Iron Flame *cough*.
A couple of things let it down:
1. The female characters were poorly written, even Saeris felt like she went from badass their to a wet blanket in the space of a chapter.
2. Magic without a cost pisses me off, even if it's just energy, there should be something.
3. One plot line too many. I'm all for layering plots, but then it needs high-fantasy tier writing to slot it all together, and this is not that.
Despite that, 10/10 vibes and I'm eagerly waiting for more!

I mean it when I say, I truly did not think any book would beat out 'When the Moon Hatched' as my favorite book of the year. That is until I read Quicksilver. I understand all the hype now. Some parts could use a little editing, but I felt that as a whole, the story and its characters flowed very well together and it was easy to follow the plot. I also loved that the world-building got more intense as the book went on. It wasn't an info dump of information that I think a lot of fantasy books tend to do when during the first book. I loved everything about Saeris Fane. She's such a kickass FMC. I have high hopes for what she brings to the rest of the series. NOW, let's talk about Kingfisher. GOOD LORD THAT MAN. All the feels. Love him. I'm obsessed. I'm so excited for the next book. It can't come soon enough. I have some burning questions.
