      Hart is too late to the genre party. The plot, the world building, the dialogue, characters, even the stakes feel painfully derivative. The Romantasy genre is already crowded with other "strong" (self-involved) heroines and the hunks with hidden (trauma) depths. Some predictability isn't a genre breaker; Maas and Yarros have proved otherwise. There's little here to make Hart stand out from the worst pitfalls of the genre formula. The frequency of exposition dumps is only acceptable in standard anime. Quicksilver is just a distraction for Romantasy fans, who are killing time between the release dates of more entertaining works. Hart's novel ironically made me realize that Maas and Yarros really have done some solid work.
